Armed and dangerous

I thought I knew what it was like to have a baby spit up on my shoulder. After all, when David was a baby, my shirt was often spotted with white and I was frequently surprised by juicy splats on the floor as I carried him around. However, Calvin has redefined the experience for me. The amount of stuff that comes out of this baby after a meal is unreal. Sometimes I think I burping him on a bath towel would be more effective and sanitary. I have opted not to post any pictures of these impressive pools of yuck, mostly because I have not taken any, but also because I would not want to offend some of your tender eyes and stomachs.

At first, Calvin was what some might call a "happy spitter." But in recent weeks, our poor baby has become more and more unhappy (and dangerous) after meals. We knew his reflux was bothering him, but we thought we'd wait it out. I figured I could at least wait until his 2 month appointment, and if he was still struggling, I would talk to his doctor. Alas, we could not make it. I took him in to the doc last week, and I tell you what-- she gave me a new baby. It didn't happen over night. It was closer to three nights, but this child is cured!

I know, he's adorable!

Trick or Treat!

This is our fourth Halloween in Syracuse (can you believe it?) and each year we've lived here, no matter what the weather of the preceeding weeks, Halloween has never failed to be a gorgeous day. This year was not an exception. On Tuesday we got our first measureable snow, Wednesday I had to scrape snow off my windshield, Thursday it melted and today the sun is shining and it's in the 50's.

Here's a preview of tonight's costumes:

Andrew, the knight in shining armor. . .

. . . David, the (One) Muskateer. . .

. . . and our itsy bitsy spider, Calvin

I must add that Calvin and I were co-winners of the "most creative" category at the church costume contest. Thank you, thank you.

Yes, I know, Calvin's sweet little face is not showing in this picture. More pictures are coming, but I plan to do that in a separate post, because two posts are better than one and it makes me look like I'm a better blogger than I am.

We did it!!

We would like to announce the arrival of our darling Darley, born September 10, 2008. Calvin Raphael was born weighing 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. He has kissably chubby cheeks and the sweetest little "happy hands" you ever saw!

Thanks everyone for your support!
